After everything's been poured and then evenly spread, we'll use a straight edge called a "scree" to flatten the surface and knock down any ridges. A bullrake is employed to smooth everything out, giving you that nice, clean finish. Before wrapping up, we'll cover the area with a plastic sheet that will keep the moisture in as the slab cures. Uneven Concrete

As the ground underneath your driveway or sidewalk settles, you'll occasionally notice that one edge or the other begins to slowly droop. This can be easily fixed using a technique called "concrete lifting", which involves injecting pressurized foam or cement underneath the slab to push it back into place. If this isn't working, another process, "piering", can be used. In this case, a large, metal rod is driven into the ground and then jacked up to push the edge or corner back to level.
